Loreto Convent special attention is given to develop the student’s personality, initiative, originality and a sense of national integration through creative co-curricular activities individually and in groups. There is a blend of academics, values based education, co-curricular activities and sports, which we believe is essential for the all round development of the child. Girls are encouraged to take part in such activities which are held periodically.
To spread an awareness of Indian Classical music to the young generation, Mrs. Meera Narayangaonkar, (Co-Director of Deepak Music Academy) conducts Hindustani Classical Music classes for the students of Loreto Convent School. This extra curricular activity at Loreto Convent School was started several years back where students are trained in classical vocal and electronic keyboard. All those who take keen interest are sent up for the seven year degree course of Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva University which is recognized all over India.
Smt. Anu Narayan has been conducting Bharatanatyam classes at the Loreto convent School since 2001. She is a teacher and performer of both the styles of Bharatanatyam and Odissi with over 2 decades of experience in the field. The students undergo vigorous training in the Pandanallur Style of Bharatanatyam and they pursue this art form with love and dedication in spite of their hectic academic schedule. Regular theory and practical examinations are conducted.
An annual event showcasing the talent of the students is organised and certificates of merit are awarded. Students are also encouraged to participate in festivals and competitions. The senior students have performed at the Fine Arts Society, Chembur and the prestigious "Natyanjali Festival" held in Mumbai. Students also appear for the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Examinations. A Dance workshop is held in summer to orient interested students into the benefitsdance and yoga. Folk dances are taught and guest classical artists perform to the delight of the participants.
Abacus is the base for all computers and calculators of modern age. Through abacus, human mind can be trained to achieve calculation speed at par with computers. The school also has abacus classes conducted on Thursday. Mrs. Archana Bhatt trains the young minds for this mathematical efficiency using Abacus.
Drawing and Elementary classes
On Thursdays we have drawing classes conducted in school by Mrs. Smita Mahaskar, our own former drawing teacher. She is very creative, efficient and has passion for art, craft and drawing. She also trains the children for Elementary examinations.
All for kids
It is a programmme for kids in English elocution. The children are trained for right accent and pronunciation in English language which boosts the child’s morale and helps the child build up confidence. The classes are conducted on Thursday by well trained teachers.
