Loreto Convent Primary and Secondary Sections celebrated its Sports Day on 29 th January , 2014 at R.C.F  Sports Club , Chembur.

The Chief guest Mr. N.L. Bachchav (D.G.M. Administration) along with other dignitaries arrived at the venue and were welcomed by Sr. Geetha ( Manager ) Mrs . Sulekha Unnikrishnan (Head Mistress – Secondary ) Mrs. Shyamala Joshi ( Co – ordinator – Primary ) , Vice President of P.T.A body and school captains. A smartly dressed Loreto Band Troupe led them towards the venue.
Mrs. Sulekha Unnikrishnan warmly welcomed everyone and introduced the Chief Guest.  It was followed by a prayer service invoking God’s blessings. The whole secondary school then presented a March past and gave their salute to the guest. He lit the torch and declared the sports meet open by releasing a dove and colourful balloons. After the oath was taken by the games captains of various houses Loreto Band presented its display in various formations. Everybody in the audience liked their presentation. A few sports events followed then.

Then the Primary Section presented their drill display using various props. First std used coloured flags , second std beautifully made sunflowers, Third std kites and the fourth standard Rainbow coloured wheels. Later they formed collage through which they tried to give messages like "Be Happy and share Joy" , "Pay attention to the grooming of the child". "Support their dreams and aspirations" and "Help the children to reach the Rainbow of Hope for the Best future". A demonstration of Karate too was held to impress on the minds of children as well as parents the need of learning marshal art in the face of the current social situation.

In the second part – Secondary section presented very well rehearsed drill and dances in beautiful formations. Ninth std girls gave demonstration of Surya Namaskar and Yoga exercises to underline the fact Sound mind in a sound body.Fifth standard girls presented colourful Butterfly drill and drew attention to nature’s beauty and need to preserve it. Sixth std girls performed energetic aerobic exercises showing the need to attain physical fitness. The most novel display of Korean fan and hat dance / drill was presented by 8 th std. they had very beautiful costumes and props and melted into various formations smoothly. When they formed the word PEACE everyone gave them a great applause. It was truly an eye pleasing show of togetherness and discipline aesthetically blended together to mark the International Peace Day.

Primary Section also presented humorous novelty races which amused the audience. Lezim girls of Std Seventh enthralled the audience by their sleek movements and quick steps on the Dhol Music. Last item Relay race to decide the winning house was cheered lustily by the Secondary students and parents alike. At the end the Chief Guest and other dignitaries distributed the prizes to the winners of Primary and Secondary Sections.

He encouraged the winners and participants saying that not winning but participating is the event is praise worthy. He also praised the Management , staff and students of Loreto Convent School for conducting the event in disciplined and flawless manner.

At the end Sr. Geetha thanked R.C.F management , staff , helpers and all those who helped in making Fun and Frolics an enjoyable and unforgettable experience.

The programme concluded with the National Anthem sung by everyone who were present and the audience dispersed in a very happy mood.
